At IES, we are thrilled to support the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee (DSAMT) and their annual Nashville Buddy Walk®. One of our employees has a niece with Down syndrome, so this is an opportunity that really hits home with our team. Our employee has volunteered to clock out while he prints, cuts, and packages all of the signage for this event. He said it is his way of helping not only his niece but the organization that helps her as well.
This year we are excited to partner with the DSAMT to help celebrate and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families and to promote understanding and acceptance of those with Down syndrome. Approximately 5,000 participants from Middle Tennessee are expected at this year’s Buddy Walk®, making it the largest Down syndrome awareness event in the state and the primary source of funding for the organization’s programs.
This year’s walk will be hosted at The Hermitage on October 27, 2018.
The free, community event brings together families, schools, churches, vendors, businesses and media to celebrate and enjoy activities for the entire family! Individuals with Down syndrome will receive a medal at the end of the short walk and all participants will enjoy a live concert by the Blues Brokers, along with games, crafts, vendors, a meet & greet with mascots and characters and more!
